Parking lots have become a crucial urban infrastructure in recent years, and many cities are experiencing a shortage of them. However, some parking lots have different occupancy rates depending on the time of day. For example, parking lots around office buildings are full in the morning and afternoon but become vacant in the evening. How can we utilize this void? These empty parking lots can be transformed into community spaces and new residential facilities within the city. By considering the different types of parking facilities in Korea, we can propose various residential types. Through land use planning, we can maximize the volume rate while simultaneously expanding the capacity of parking lots to address the shortage of parking and to create community facilities.
